Review count over the plan

Rating results use a simple average. Platforms such as Trustpilot weight recent reviews more, so treat the numbers as a planning guide.

How it works

How the review velocity planner works out your pace

For a review count goal, the planner subtracts the reviews you have from your target. For a rating goal, it works out how many new reviews, at the average you expect, it takes to shift a simple average from your current rating to the target.

It then divides the total by the months you set, rounds up, and shows the weekly figure as a guide. The chart shows how your review count grows if the pace holds every month.

For Trustpilot, the TrustScore calculator gives a closer estimate, because it includes the starting point Trustpilot gives every business. Compare package prices on the pricing page.

Choosing a pace

Picking a pace you can keep

Give yourself enough months. A longer plan means fewer reviews each month and a profile that keeps looking active through the year.

Match the pace to the platform's calendar. G2 publishes Grid reports every quarter, so a steady pace gives you a chance at each season's reports.

Revisit the plan when your numbers change. Run the planner again after each package to see what is left to reach your goal.

FAQ

Review velocity questions

How the planner works and how to use its numbers.

What is review velocity?

Review velocity is the pace at which new reviews reach your profile, usually counted per month. Buyers notice it through the dates on your newest reviews, and platforms such as Trustpilot weight recent reviews more, so a steady pace keeps your profile current.

Why spread reviews out instead of adding them all at once?

Dozens of reviews in a few days stand out to buyers and to the checks review platforms run, and they leave a long quiet gap afterwards. An even monthly pace keeps your newest review recent and grows the profile in a way that matches real customer activity.

How does the planner pick packages?

It finds the cheapest mix of that platform's packages that covers the total number of new reviews, using the same prices as the platform pages. For Capterra and HubSpot it shows review targets, because those packages are priced as campaigns.

Why can my rating target not be reached?

Each new review pulls your rating toward its own score. With new reviews averaging 4.5, the rating can get close to 4.5 but never above it, however many you add. Set a lower target, or change the expected average if your newer customers rate you higher.

Does the plan work the same on every platform?

The arithmetic is the same, but each platform has its own rules and buyers. G2 publishes reports every quarter, Trustpilot leans on recent reviews, and Capterra reviews can also appear on GetApp and Software Advice. Each platform page explains what matters there.
