How do you claim G2 profile access for your product?
To claim a G2 profile, search for your product on G2.com and open its page. Hover over the "Unclaimed" label at the top, select "Claim this profile" and sign in to a G2 account. G2 then reviews the request and gives final approval within 1 to 3 business days, after which you manage the listing in my.G2.
Those steps come from G2's help page on finding or listing a product, which also points vendors to G2 Support when a claim needs help. An unclaimed profile is easy to spot, because G2 places a black box with an exclamation point and the word "Unclaimed" at the top of the page.
Claiming matters because the page is already public and buyers can read it either way. G2's page on unclaimed profiles, checked in October 2026, says claimed G2 profiles earn 44% more traffic than unclaimed ones. A claimed page also gives you the base you need before you ask anyone for a review, or before you buy verified G2 reviews as a managed campaign.

How to list a new product when there is no G2 profile yet
If a search on G2.com finds nothing, your product is most likely not on G2 yet. In that case you fill out G2's Product Submission Form, and G2's research team checks the product's eligibility and the category it belongs in. Once the product is approved, its profile goes live and you claim it with the same steps as any other listing.
Eligibility is the step that stops some teams. G2's help page says it does not accept business-to-consumer (B2C) products, or products that are still in alpha or beta. A consumer app is better served by review sites that list consumer products, and our RelikReview review services cover several of them.
The G2 Community Guidelines add one more condition for every listing. Vendors must not post information or products that do not correspond with a real, legally registered business entity, so the company name on the submission should match the business that sells the product.
What G2 checks before a claim is approved
G2 does not publish a checklist for claim approval. What it does say is that the team reviews every claim request before it gives final approval, and that the approval arrives within 1 to 3 business days. If a request stalls, G2 Support is the route its help pages name for claim problems.
Since G2 does not list its checks, the safest plan is to make ownership obvious. Claim from the G2 account of the person who will run the profile, use the company's official name, and keep the product name the same as on your website. G2's product information guide asks vendors to use the official website or legal name, with no marketing terms and no trademark symbols.
It also helps to decide early who owns the login. A profile claimed from a founder's account or an agency's inbox can become hard to recover when that person moves on, so pick one named owner inside the company and add a backup admin as part of the setup.
How to set up G2 profile details in my.G2
Once G2 approves your claim, you set up the G2 profile in my.G2 under Your G2 Profile, then Product Information. G2's product information guide, updated on 21 October 2026, lists the fields and checks eligible changes automatically when you select Save Profile Changes. Fields you cannot edit, or changes that fail validation, go through Request updates for G2 to review.
The fields to fill first
These are the fields buyers see first, with the limits G2 sets for each one:
- Profile logo. At least 400 pixels, as a JPG, PNG or GIF file.
- Product description. Up to 500 words, written for a buyer comparing options.
- Languages and software type. Supported languages, and whether the product is on premises, hosted in the cloud or both.
- Categories. Your main category can only be one already linked to your product, and wider changes go through Request updates and G2 Support.
- Screenshots. Images of the product in use, added from the Media Gallery in my.G2.
- Packages and pricing. Each pricing edition with its price and the features it includes.

Categories deserve the most care
Categories decide where buyers find you and which competitors you sit next to, so check them before anything else. If the right category does not exist, G2 accepts requests for a new one, but the request needs a proposed name, at least 10 competing products, a description, 3 to 5 key features and an explanation of how it fits G2's taxonomy.
Every change is logged as well. Selecting Last updated in my.G2 opens a changelog, and any edit G2 makes on its side is tagged "(Updated by G2)", which makes it easy to spot changes you did not make yourself.
G2 my products versus my.G2: where the listing is managed
G2 has two places that sound alike, and mixing them up wastes time. The My Products panel in a personal G2 profile is where you list the software you use as a buyer, so G2 can tailor its recommendations. Adding your own product there does not claim it or give you any control over its page.
The vendor side lives in my.G2, the portal you reach after a claim is approved. That is where you edit the profile, manage categories, see review activity and invite colleagues. To add teammates, open User Management from your avatar, select Invite your team, choose a group and send the invite link.
A shared setup protects the profile. Give marketing the profile content, give customer success access to review activity, and keep the main admin seat with someone who is likely to stay with the company for years.
What the free G2 profile includes and what paid plans add
Every company can claim and keep a free G2 profile. G2's plans and pricing page, checked in October 2026, lists four plans: Free, Starter at $299 a month (or $2,999 a year), and Professional and Enterprise, which are priced through G2's sales team.
The free profile covers the basics of the page: logo, description, supported languages, categories, packages and pricing, features, Q&A discussions, screenshots, seller pages and review syndication. It also includes a non-incentivized review collection page and the right to display the Users Love Us badge, which G2 says is earned after 20 reviews with an average rating of 4.0 stars.

What the free plan leaves out
The biggest gap is replying to reviews. G2's help page on review activity says responding to reviews is not available for free profiles, and the plans page lists Respond to Reviewers from Starter upward. If you expect critical feedback early, plan for how you will answer it, and our guide on how to respond to negative reviews covers the replies themselves.
Badges are the other limit. The free plan includes only the Users Love Us badge, while report, milestone and annual badges sit in Starter and above. The G2 Community Guidelines add that badges earned from Summer 2025 onward need a Starter plan or higher to republish, along with a backlink to the G2 category page.
First steps to collect reviews after you claim G2 profile access
A finished profile with no reviews still gives buyers little to go on. Reviews are what buyers read next, and our piece on why g2 reviews matter explains how buyers use them on a shortlist. The free profile's review collection page is the simplest place to start.
G2's Community Guidelines set the rules for that first request. G2 encourages sellers to ask their customers for authentic, unbiased reviews, and it recommends sharing review landing pages directly by email or direct message, because public links can be compromised. Collecting reviews by any method that segments out potentially negative reviews, or that targets only positive ones, is banned.
A simple first round
These steps keep a first round of requests inside G2's rules:
- Pick a fixed point every customer reaches, such as day 30 or day 90 after onboarding, and invite everyone who passes it.
- Send the review collection page link by email or direct message, with a plain request for an honest review.
- Leave out your employees and anyone who works for a direct competitor, since G2 does not accept their reviews.
- If you add an incentive later, keep it under G2's $100 cap, disclose it to G2 and never tie it to a positive rating.
G2 moderates every review before it goes live, and our guide to the g2 review guidelines explains what its moderators check and why reviews get rejected. Knowing those reasons before you send the first link saves reviews that would otherwise fail.

Get your first G2 reviews with RelikReview
A complete profile is step one, and reviews are step two, which is the part we run. RelikReview plans G2 review campaigns with verified users who review your product in their own words.
- Own words, own ratingReviewers are never paid and choose their rating.
- Briefed for moderationEach reviewer knows G2's verification checks.
- Steady pacingReviews arrive over weeks, with no sudden spikes.
Claim G2 profile access, then build the reviews
To claim G2 profile access, find your product on G2.com, select Claim this profile and wait 1 to 3 business days for approval, or submit the product first if G2 does not list it yet. Then fill the logo, description, categories, screenshots and pricing in my.G2 before you send a single review request.
The free profile is enough to start, and the paid plans add replies, badge licensing and campaign tools once reviews begin to arrive. If you would like help planning the first round of G2 reviews for a newly claimed profile, talk to the RelikReview team about where to begin.
FAQs about claiming a G2 profile
Is it free to claim a profile on G2?
Yes, claiming a G2 profile is free, and G2 says every company can claim and maintain a free profile. Paid plans start with Starter at $299 a month and add features such as replies to reviews, banners, badge licensing and gift card review credits. You can claim first and upgrade later.
How long does G2 take to approve a profile claim?
G2 reviews every profile claim request and gives final approval within 1 to 3 business days, according to its help pages. A product that is not yet on G2 must first pass the Product Submission Form, where G2's research team checks eligibility and categorization before the profile goes live and can be claimed.
Can B2C software be listed on G2?
No, G2's help pages state that it does not accept business-to-consumer (B2C) products. It also turns away products that are still in alpha or beta development. Software sold to businesses can be submitted through the Product Submission Form, and G2's research team then confirms the product's eligibility and category.
Can I respond to reviews on a free G2 profile?
No, G2's help page on review activity says responding to reviews is not available for free profiles. The plans page lists Respond to Reviewers from the Starter plan upward. On a paid plan, replies appear below the review on G2, labeled with your name and organization, and can be edited or deleted later.
Can I edit or remove reviews on my G2 profile?
No, the G2 Community Guidelines say G2 never edits the content of a review and does not edit or remove reviews at a seller's request. Vendors control the profile content, such as the description, screenshots and pricing, while reviews stay as the reviewer wrote them unless they break G2's guidelines.
Can I add teammates to manage our G2 profile?
Yes, my.G2 lets you add teammates through User Management. Select your avatar, open User Management, choose Invite your team, pick a group and send the invite link. Each invitee creates a G2 account or links an existing one, and the plans page lists unlimited user seats on the free plan.
